Airedales
« on: May 14, 2009, 09:10:33 AM »

I am going to be using an airedale for my up coming certification. Can anyone reccommend the best blade to use for setting the pattern. He is not handstripped so I will be using a blade but I want to make sure I use the correct length. Any suggestions. Also does anyone have any great pictures I can use to study or suggest a DVD I could review.

The best place to find pictures will be the Airedale club website.  Here you will find the standard of the breed.  As for the blades, you can use a # 4 or #5 depending on the coat of the dog.  Also it will be good to show carding techniques on him.  If you have any other just let me know!

I really like this picture for outline and structure for grooming airedales.

I used a wirehaired fox terrier for my longlegged and a westie for my short test.

Good luck!!!

I have purchased a few of Jodi Muphy's dvd's and they are pretty good. She does have an airdale dvd.

Here is her web site.

Hey Stringcheese, (which by the way I love)  How did this work out?  Did you certify yet?  Still need help?  How did it go?  Going to go?

Sorry didn't notice this post until now. I went really well, passed my long legged terrier and my sporting and did my sporting written and passed (barely, geez I'm really not into sporting dogs).
As well I went to Kentucky and competed for the first time there and came in second with a bichon Smiley While I was there I saw Linda and she told me to do my CMG written so I did, I am now a certified master groomer whoooohooo It was actually a lot of fun and I'm so glad I did it.
